⚠ A challenge facing our industry
URGENT

Here's what most people don't know.

92% of beauty schools across the U.S. are at risk of closure

Because of a federal regulation called the Gainful Employment rule.
This new rule could prevent 92% of accredited schools access to vital student loans and grants that are essential for people wanting to pursue a career in beauty, barbering and wellness. This Gainful Employment rule compares full time earnings of high school graduates 10 years after graduation to beauty school students 3 years after graduation and doesn't account for:

This is bad for future students, beauty schools, salons, barbershops and beauty businesses because it eliminates access and choice!

Which means the student who couldn't afford a four-year university, who found their path behind the chair or at the treatment table — loses that path entirely.

This isn't just a policy problem.
This is an industry-wide problem.

The beauty and wellness industry employs millions. It creates business owners, entrepreneurs, and community pillars — the majority of them women. It is one of the last true middle-class pathways for people who don't fit the traditional mold.

If we stay quiet, we lose it.

What you can do

You've always made an impact. Now make it visible.

You hold space for countless clients. You employ teams. Schools employ teachers who create the future workforce. You create a space for thousands of people in your community to heal and feel beautiful.

The beauty industry is fueled by YOU!

You build businesses, employ teams, pay taxes, and transform lives — one chair, one table, one classroom at a time.

Today, we change that.

Here's how you can take action and help!

What's your secret impact?

Your story is the most powerful thing you have.

Here's how to share it.

For Salon & Spa Owners

How many people do you employ? How many families does your payroll support? What does your annual revenue contribute to your local economy?

How many clients have sat in your chair during the hardest moments of their lives — and left feeling like themselves again?

Have you been able to buy a house because of your license? How have you become a contributing member of your community because of what this industry gave you?

How important was it that you could afford to go to school?
For Stylists, Estheticians, Nail Techs, Makeup Artists, Barbers & Wellness Pros

Have you ever done a bride's hair on their wedding day — and dried their tears before you styled their hair?

Have you sat with a client going through a health crisis, hair or skin issue or chemo and helped them feel beautiful again?

Have you been the safe person someone opened up to about abuse, depression, or grief?

Do you know the names of your clients' kids? Their dogs? Their dreams? How long are you in these people's lives?

How important was it that you were able to afford to GO to school so you could get a proper education and license that opened you up to the opportunity that you have now everyday.

That's not just hair. That's humanity.
For Beauty Educators & School Staff

Who did you change before they ever touched a client? What student walked in broken and walked out with a license and a new life?

Would most of your students be able to go to school without financial support?

How many students are the first in their family to pursue post-secondary education?

Did someone need that school loan to change the trajectory of their entire family and life?

How important is it that your students are able to AFFORD to go to school so they can get a proper education and license which will change the trajectory of their lives. How important is financial support or affordable tuition to these students?

Where did you start — and where are you now — because of this industry?
For Students & Future Pros

Why did you choose this path? What did it mean to have access to this education?

What do you plan to do with your beauty license?

How has your life been impacted by a beauty professional, educator or mentor?

Your story matters. Tell it.

Because the beauty industry doesn't just make people look good.

It makes people feel safe. It builds careers. It changes families.

It transforms communities. It changes lives financially — every single day.

And it's time the world knew.

Who we are

The face of the beauty industry

This industry was built by the people the world forgot to count. Here's what the numbers actually say.

83% of beauty workers are women / fem-identifying vs. 47% in every other industry
69% of salons are women-owned vs. only 23% of all other private businesses
47% of beauty businesses are minority-owned vs. 23% across all industries
32% are fully self-employed — this industry builds entrepreneurs
21% Hispanic representation — outperforming national averages
8% projected job growth — double the national average of 4%

We are not a luxury industry.

We are mothers who became business owners. Immigrants who found a path when no other door was open. First-generation entrepreneurs who built something from nothing — with a pair of scissors, a bottle of nail polish, a license, and a dream.

We are the ones our clients call when they find out they have cancer. When they're getting married. When they've left an abusive relationship and need to feel like themselves again. When they're grieving. When they're celebrating. When they just need someone to listen.

We are caregivers who happen to also be beauty teachers & salon/spa CEOs.

We employ families. We pay taxes. We pour back into our communities. We mentor the next generation. We show up — for our clients, our staff, our students, and each other — every single day.

83% women. 47% minority-owned.
32% self-employed. 8% growth.

These are not just statistics. These are people! And federal regulation is about to shut the door on all of them!

"We know the impact beauty pros have on the world, and now it's time to prove it!"
